By combining his martial arts skills along with his wrestling ability he created a unique wrestling style unlike anyone before him. Japanese superstar Antonio Inoki, founder of New Japan Pro Wrestling, trained him along side Japanese wrestling legend Yoshiaki Fujimara and El Gran Hamada.
Simply put, Último Dragón is the best. He is the ONLY wrestler to hold ELEVEN CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES simultaneously, a feat that will never ever be broken. He is the most decorated wrestler in the world, a martial arts expert, a judo champion, a real life mask-wearing superhero that is part legend, part myth, part icon. Último Dragón is in the top five of all-time luchadors (wrestlers) every to step in a wrestling ring and today he stands out as the greatest crossover star in this sport’s history. Born and raised in Japan and becoming a master in that nation’s intensely competitive style of wrestling called puroresu, Último Dragón journeyed to Mexico City, the Mecca of Lucha Libre and all masked wrestling, and achieved what no one before him has succeeded in doing, becoming the number one lucha libre superstar in the world. By mastering the unique and high flying lucha style as well as the puroresu style and with successful runs in America, notably the wrestling juggernaut the WWE and wrestling extensively through Europe and around the world, he has combined every combative and wrestling technique into his own unique style of lucha libre and has become a world class promoter creating multi-national wrestling shows that have become multi-cultural events. He is the standard bearer for excellence, dedication and sacrifice in the world of professional wrestling and is considered by peers, wrestlers and fans as being the stellar example of what lucha libre is inside and outside of the ring.

It’s great to have Dan Madigan on our team. His lucha book is the best around, everyone should have it in their collection…
I read Dan’s Mondo Lucha A Go Go book when I was doing research for my fight choteography textbook and found it highly informative and thoroughly enjoyed it. Kudos Dan!

Ultimo Dragon RULEZ !
thanks Baron! Great stuff
A great Pro Wrestling 101, Baron.
I only trained for a few months before hurting myself and coming to realization that even if I could work a match, actually doing it at the pace and level expected was probably a little beyond me since I started so late.
But, I still love it and I have ENDLESS respect for the men and women who put their bodies on the line – sometimes DAILY for the entertainment of the fans.
The feeling of getting that feedback, cheers or boos, and knowing you just beat yourself up for that reaction is indescribable. I’m not sure anyone who hasn’t done it, even in training, would understand WHY anyone would do it.
